29 New LOCKUP Instructors in MN and IA
Congratulations to the 29 officers who recently completed the L.O.C.K.U.P. ® Police Combat Arrest and Control Instructor Training. This intensive course held June 17 – 21, 2013 was hosted by the St Paul Professional Development Institute and Brooklyn Park MN Police Department.
As of the June 2013, 110 members of 48 different agencies such as the Federal Marshall Service out of Arizona, Officers from Canada, Iowa, and North Dakota, have attended SPPD-PDI L.O.C.K.U.P. Instructor courses. Brooklyn Park PD, Metro Transit PD, Hennepin County SO, Hennepin Medical Center, Duluth PD, MN State Patrol, Bloomington PD and others are using L.O.C.K.U.P. as a part of their DT system. L.O.C.K.U.P. is the POST certified system for the entire states of Rhode Island and Connecticut. In 2013, Lt Dillon will begin offering the 2nd week of the Instructor course which covers handcuffing, weapon retention, edged weapon defense, and an extended curriculum.

- Bring a new more relevant program to our department.
- This will take out very outdated tactics training and provide officers with the new easy effective techniques will help me when I am running training we currently train lockup feel more comfortable going hands-on.
- The instructors didn’t excellent job of training how to teach.

- I think it will help me in showing others how to act and react to different threats I hope it will give officers more confidence on the street. This will give me a fresh perspective to the job and how to help other officers and keep everyone safe thank you.
