It was a pleasure and honor to present the famous CT 9 Day L.O.C.K.U.P. Arrest and Control Instructor Training held at the CT Department of Corrections Training Facility. This is our 24th year Anniversary presenting the program to officers throughout the State of Connecticut.
The training was very well received by all attendees, and they participated actively throughout the mentally challenging and physically intensive week. The attending students displayed high levels of enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism throughout the training session. A review of the course evaluations revealed an overwhelming satisfaction rating from the class. I have attached an assessment of the evaluations for your review.
Presentation was great. Lots of real-world application and instructors gave examples of when the moves have been used.
Instructors were great, didn’t matter who was teaching they all knew the material very well.
I will be able to apply this training to teaching recruits in the Academy and use the techniques myself on the road.
The PowerPoint was a great training tool. I enjoyed the visual aids, videos as well. The stories and the experiences demonstrations of the technique were all well done.
The instructors were very knowledgeable on the subject matter. They gave a lot of pertinent information in real life experience.
The training was very well put together. Case laws and reviewing cases gave me a better understanding of why we use LOCKUP.
All instructors had a wealth of knowledge. I enjoyed hearing real life incidents where LOCKUP was used and the outcome using block learning and interleaving allowed me to learn the materials given.
Lt. Kevin Dillon and his staff prepare evidence-based presentations and deliver the material with passion.
Lt. KD, Dan Cruz, and Lt. Creter live what they teach and passionate about training cops and to be confident in the use of the LOCKUP training.
Great presentation. Engaging.
I can train my coworkers with skills that they will need and use in the field.
Enjoyed hearing technical intellectual aspects in LOCKUP and learning how the brain operates
Build confidence on dealing with uncooperative individuals physically and communication.
Very informative, highly recommend to all law enforcement types. Good use of video, hands on, PowerPoint and material.
This program has shown several different ways to arrest and control situations. Was able to gather new techniques and apply them to different types of trainings
The instructors were all highly knowledgeable and worked well together, at times providing different perspectives to relay the information with another voice.
This course has refreshed my skill set and improved my confidence
I will bring these techniques and training strategies to the Department of Corrections.
It helps our department each and every time I take these courses. Would love to see more team based skills. Communication is an ongoing issue with our department when it comes to multiple officers and use of force.
The presentation is excellent and truly addressed the needs of the modern police officer. The presentation is evidence based and backed by incredibly knowledgeable instructors who are hands on with the training . All material is current and very relevant.
This training enhanced my own skills and abilities, but has also provided a great teaching outline that I can bring back in use in my department.
This training will help the overall department on how to use of correct use of force.
Excellent quality of handouts and PowerPoint which can be easily used for reference material when teaching in service training to the agency. Reoccurring training through research every three years keeps me great with changes in curriculum and helps solidify knowledge of the skills through periodic refresher training.
As a use of force instructor, we are bringing back this type of training multiple times a year after not doing it for a while.
Good PowerPoint. Hands on was best part, good rate of learning, great instructors.
Passionate and dedicated to give the most knowledge as possible. Allow me to combine LOCKUP and Triple Certification to teach at the Academy and in service.
I like the way training was broken down in a three-week. I would not change that.
PowerPoints were informative, instructors applied real life events to training period was not death by PowerPoint
Phenomenal quality just believe the PowerPoints and handouts could be better updated.
Without a doubt, help me bring new tactics and knowledge to teach my fellow officers at my department in in service training.
I currently do not teach this to any staff so it will be beneficial to start training them with this material.
This system is good and applicable for many situations, but mostly seems focused on combative suspect. A lot of incidents are suspects just trying to get away and not actually assaulting officers maybe more grounded control instead of disengagement techniques.
Very well prepared, instructors were able to adapt the class seamlessly if something needed to be changed.
FBI National Academy – 2022 Science & Innovation Award
The selection committee unanimously selected L.O.C.K.U.P. Arrest and Control Training Systems. The L.O.C.K.U.P. training differentiated itself from other Defensive tactics programs being instructed throughout the country. L.O.C.K.U.P. is not a technique-based training system but the emphasis is on the actual collection of data on the use of force incidents, and detailed reporting to determine the effectiveness and needs assessments of the officers on the street.
Train your officers to be instructors in the award-winning L.O.C.K.U.P.® Police Training Systems, CT 9 Day Arrest and Control – Instructor Course. Developed in 2003 over 20 years and approved by the CT Police Officers and Standards Training Council as the foundation of the basic training curriculum, this course provides in-depth arrest and control confrontation training. It develops a solid foundation of de-escalation tactics, physical manipulation techniques, and instructional methods that will certify the student as a Basic Connecticut Arrest and Control Instructor. The empty-hand skills can be relied upon by individual officers or with a partner. This system is a complete arrest and control program that fully integrates all weapons systems of law enforcement. This course is NOT based on one martial art but an eclectic system designed to fit the modern-day officer. A COMPLETE Law Enforcement Arrest and Control System.
