Overcoming Size Differences – Tactics for Female Enforcers
April 11 – 13, 2022, 8-5 pm
Congratulations to the graduates of the LOCKUP – Overcoming Size Differences – Tactics for Female Enforcers hosted by the Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola -FL. Officers from throughout FL attended and actively participated throughout the three-day physically intensive training program.
20 out of 21 evaluations rated this course at the highest level of Excellent. This is what the students had to say:
Where were the parts of the program that you saw as particularly useful?
Handcuffing techniques, Rear Sentry Arm Pull takedown.
I think this program should be offered to all male officers and new officers also. It really helps learning better techniques to improve your job.
Everything can be used in my daily work and outside of work for self defense.
This program was awesome I am able to take what I learned and use it in my day to day work.
Walking through tactics used in patrol and on traffic stops. When the fight is on instructors walked us through how proper tactics could eliminate mistakes and get ahead of attacks.
This program was great. If I had to think of something else I would add more training videos from real life scenarios. We had a few but more would be great too.
Executing tactics with gear on was extremely important and necessary compared to the DT in the past without gear on. Allowed us to understand how the gear affects our movement.
Learned new moves to overcome suspects twice my size.
Rear Sentury takedown
The different techniques used to take individuals that were not covered in our Academy.
Most of the techniques I personally have not done since my Academy class, approximately three years ago. Not only was it a reminder it excelled and went above expectations.
All of the control and takedowns, well, the whole class was useful.
The different approaches to handcuffing and ground defense really made the things I’ve learned from the Academy much clearer. It also allowed me to see that some of the things that I was utilizing did not work and why they did not work. I would highly recommend this training or additional LOCKUP training for law enforcement.
Everything! Especially the explanation of each technique and how that would work.
How to fight, and takedown people of larger sizes. Also the tips about impacting the knees and hips.
The amount of times we practiced and went over each move .
Every technique covered in this training was very useful! I would recommend this to anyone in law enforcement field. I liked when all our fears were addressed.
This three-day course is designed to address violent encounters dealing with suspects of larger stature. When attempting to control larger suspects, size and strength differentials necessitate combat strategies less reliant on pure upper body strength. The concepts and techniques can be utilized by any officer addressing a larger suspect. The days are hands-on and mentally challenging. Officers train and drill wearing vests, gun belts, and long pants because anything else makes no sense.
