Director, Guy Samuelson is a retired detective sergeant from the New Milford, Connecticut Police Department, a former officer with the St. Cloud, Florida Police Department, and a former deputy with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. He continues to work as a reserve Sergeant with the Sheriff’s Office.
Proudly serving the citizens of New Milford for 20 years, Sergeant Samuelson supervised both the Patrol Division and the Investigative Services Bureau holding specialized training in both fields. He was a member of New Milford P.D.’s dive and recovery team and is IPMBA (mountain bike patrol) certified. Sergeant Samuelson is an adjunct instructor at the Connecticut Police Academy for handcuffing and L.O.C.K.U.P.® Police Combat. He has also instructed Connecticut police officers for recertification in use of force.
Director Samuelson has been a certified police instructor for over 28 years covering Handcuffing, O/C, Straight Baton, Use of Force, Firearms, Driving, Fitness and all hands-on training, including the L.O.C.K.U.P.® system. With many years of martial arts and fitness training in his background, including Chinese Kenpo and Mixed Martial Arts, he is a Lifetime Member of the United States Martial Arts Association.
Guy Samuelson has been training with Lieutenant Dillon and Sergeant Anderson in the L.O.C.K.U.P.® system since 2001. He is the southern region L.O.C.K.U.P.® representative and has been involved in the continuous development of this combat system and the certification of new instructors. Samuelson is also an instructor for the Soulis Shooting System in conjunction with L.O.C.K.U.P.®, developed by Retired Jacksonville Sheriff Deputy Pete Soulis.
Selected as a member of the L.O.C.K.U.P.® Travel Demo Team, Samuelson is an avid physical fitness practitioner and continues to instruct law enforcement officers and civilians in physical fitness. As part of the demo team Guy has presented/demoed at the United States Martial Arts Association Conference in St. Louis, Missouri as well as throughout Connecticut, New York and Florida. He has instructed a program called Police Combat Fitness, a program that develops a solid foundation for the physical fitness needs of the officer using modern day fitness and weight training techniques that are consistent with the combative philosophies of L.O.C.K.U.P.®.
Samuelson is the Director of the “Criminal Justice Academy of Osceola in Florida and is certified with the State of Florida as a Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and Driving Instructor. Samuelson for over 10 years was the Lead fitness and Defensive Tactics Instructor for the Academy and was chosen as a subject matter expert in the development of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s Physical Fitness Course.
Samuelson is formerly the Co-Owner of CrossFit Panoply located in Central Florida. He is the owner of Panoply Training LLC specializing in Arrest and Control / Control and Restraint(L.O.C.K.U.P®), Law Enforcement Training, personal safety for civilians, fitness training for all ages, and health and nutrition. He is a level 1 certified trainer in CrossFit, holds a certification from the Coopers Aerobic Institute in Texas as a Law Enforcement Fitness Specialist, and completed a Personal Training Certification from NASM.
Guy Samuelson has a B.A. in Human Relations from Western Connecticut University, a M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from Andrew Jackson University, and Adult Education Instructor Certification from the State of Florida.
