Houston, TX – Police Use of Force for Command, Supervisors and Trainers

The Houston Police Academy will be hosting an upcoming course titled, “Police Use of Force for Command, Supervisors and Trainers” available to all law enforcement officers.

This is an 8-hour course offered by KFD Training & Consultation LLC and will be held at the Houston Police Department Training Academy, 17000 Aldine Westfield, Houston, TX 77073. The date and time assignment is as follows:

Wednesday, January 9, 2019, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. This course includes the following topics:

• Legal applications of use of force – What is being reported
• Early intervention by tracking for use of force, what is being used?
• Reducing liability in use of force by deploying de-escalation strategies and documentation
• Strategies and tactics when responding to individuals that are considered special populations
• How to avoid an “Eric Garner case”
• Multiple officer control tactics and avoiding the “pile”
• Reasonable foreseeable actions from physical control movements
• Curriculum selection process – what and why
• On scene investigation protocols for supervisors
• Training measurements and performance – You can’t manage what you don’t measure.

This class will be taught by nationally recognized law enforcement trainer Lieutenant Kevin Dillon (ret) who developed the program and has numerous credentials including development of the L.O.C.K.U.P. Arrest and Control System, is certification by the Force Science Institute for Analysis of Use of Force Incidents, and is a Civil Litigation Specialist through AELE. He has appeared on CNN, NPR and other radio talk shows as a national law enforcement expert.

The cost is $125 per student and the class will provide eight hours of TCOLE credit.
