Congratulations to the 24 new L.O.C.K.U.P.® Arrest and Control Instructors of MN. Officers throughout MN attended and successfully completed the intensive the 5 day t Basic L.O.C.K.U.P.® Arrest and Control Instructor Course. The new Instructors will return to their agencies to provide in depth physical arrest and control training to their agencies.

What I like best about the class was:

The physical aspect of the training, realistic training with duty gear on, despite all the bruises.
Instructor perspective and having Lieutenant Dillon come to the class.
The learning of techniques taught, the instructors to student ratio.
Application of learning, all the techniques but also how to properly teach the techniques.  Plus the brain functions.
Very well organized, entertaining, long days but kept the energy high.
I do like that there were more emphasis on instructor development.
The whole class was excellent!  It could be longer and broken up into several classes.  Unfortunately most PD’s would not supply trainers with that many days, so it is a good balance.
Instructors were great.  System was easy to learn and effective.
Step by step and “cluster” learning.
Explanation of the science behind using force and when and why it is used.
The passion and knowledge of the instructors.
The instructors are willing to provide help for in service training, breakdown moves by the numbers.
Plenty of time on the mats.
Knowledge based training, hands on portion were chunked to allow for better learning.
The slow dynamic discussions and the flow of the class.  Liked the transition of class discussion to mat room execution.
The environmental training.  Breaking down each step for takedowns.  Report writing was very beneficial.
The level of instruction was easy to follow but intense enough to keep the mind engaged.
Great explanation and demonstration by instructors.  Great use of examples for real life situations and went to apply the moves.

An intensive 5-day training program on L.O.C.K.U.P.® Police Arrest and Control Instructor Course. This course provides in-depth arrest and control  confrontation training.  It develops a solid foundation of   de-escalation tactics, physical manipulation techniques with instructional methods that will certify the student as a Basic L.O.C.K.U.P. ® Arrest and   Control Instructor. The defensive tactics empty-hand skills can be relied upon by individual  officers or with as teams.  This system is a complete arrest and control program that fully integrates all weapons systems of law enforcement.
