This is a nationally recognized conflict resolution de-escalation certification course. The
\nL.E.A.D.S. \u2122 Plus T – Law Enforcement Active De-escalation Strategies Training was
\ndeveloped in 2007 and has been taught throughout the United States.
\nThrough lectures, demonstrations, role play, and practical scenario applications, this course is
\nan instructor level program designed to qualify students in the L.E.A.D.S. \u2122 Plus T – Law
\nEnforcement Active De-escalation Strategies and Tactical Options Program. The course
\nis classroom based to educate and train instructors in positive communications skills, effective
\nde-escalation techniques, anger management and combat confrontation avoidance
\ntechniques. The course teaches how to recognize aggressive behaviors and keep them from
\nescalating. Students learn Active De-escalation Strategies that can avoid or resolve negative
\ninteractions by employing effective de-escalation methods. This course also discusses
\ntactical responses to use when diffusion tactics are inappropriate or ineffective and teaches
\ndistraction techniques that promote the success of tactical applications.<\/p>\n

INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 learn how to turn negative communication into positive
\n\u2022 identify professional benefits of respect
\n\u2022 learn anger management techniques
\n\u2022 learn effective verbal de-escalation strategies
\n\u2022 community empowerment and partnership strategies
\n\u2022 understand physiological changes during aggression
\n\u2022 learn to use cognitive limitations for active diffusion
\n\u2022 learn methods to redirect thought process through positive direction
\n\u2022 communicate and respond to special populations
\n; (ex.-mental illness, autism, disabilities)
\n\u2022 learn methods of motivational interviewing skills
\n\u2022 learn tactically relocation strategies to delay confrontations
\n\u2022 concepts of fair and impartial policing
\n\u2022 learn to build community partnerships through daily interactions
\n\u2022 learn to conduct breakout sessions for roll playing exercises
\n\u2022 learn communication and physical strategies to de-escalate situations
\n\u2022 learn how de-escalation and or the lack of is used in litigation plus more!<\/p>\n
