COURSE: Through lectures, demonstrations, and practical scenario applications, this course is an instructor-level program designed to qualify students in the L.E.A.D.S.™ Law Enforcement Active De-escalation Strategies. Students learn active de-escalation strategies that can avoid or resolve negative interactions by employing effective de-escalation methods. Also, this course will discuss tactical responses to use when diffusion tactics are inappropriate or ineffective and teach distraction techniques that promote the success of tactical applications.

IMPORTANT NOTESStudents must attend all sessions of the course. Students will receive a certificate and a digital and hard copy of the instruction manual along with the PowerPoint presentation.

OBJECTIVES TO BE COVERED INCLUDE: Learn anger management techniques, learn effective verbal de-escalation strategies, conflict resolution, learn community empowerment, learn to understand cognitive limitations during diffusion, communicate and respond to special populations (mental illness, autism, etc.), force mitigation, documentation, teaching techniques, learning methods and much more.
